Council approves surplus police vehicles and new well test site; motions pass

Police Chief Arnold Downey reported the three vehicles recommended as surplus: a 2016 Ford Explorer with about 157,102 miles, a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe with about 108,803 miles (staff proposed donating the Tahoe to Chris Field), and a 2013 Dodge Charger with about 138,179 miles. Council approved moving the vehicles to auction (GovernmentDeals) with the Tahoe donation plan noted; the motion passed unanimously.
On water supply, staff said earlier testing at the 346 East location failed to produce adequate flow. The council approved moving forward with a new test well on town-owned land near Henry Park/Flower Street; staff said the goal is to test for a viable flow (staff discussed targeting roughly 600 to 800 gallons per minute) before performing water-quality testing and any further work. The motion to approve the test-well contract was moved and seconded and recorded as passing unanimously.
Next steps: surplus vehicles will be processed for GovernmentDeals (and the Tahoe donated per council instruction); the town will proceed with the new test well and return with test results and any recommendations for treatment, storage or additional infrastructure work.
