Superintendent Knowles welcomed new board members and introduced the district’s new treasurer, telling trustees: "We haven't missed a beat," as he described continuity in district operations. He also previewed community communications including the district’s "cardinal communique" newsletter and highlighted several upcoming events, including a planned live question-and-answer between Hilltop students and astronauts aboard the International Space Station slated for February.
Board members and principals presented Rotary Student of the Month recognitions for multiple schools. Canfield High School’s Rotary Student of the Month was announced as Sean Bowling, introduced by the high school representative with a list of academic, athletic and musical accomplishments and a short anecdote about his leadership. Canfield Middle School honored Chase Senn; Claire Edenfield was recognized as a Rotary student for December. Principals described each student’s strengths in brief prepared remarks and invited the community’s congratulations.
The superintendent also noted district outreach projects, including a device-collection drive run by the high school National Honor Society and the Canfield Police Department to refurbish phones for victims of domestic violence. Trustees congratulated the students and thanked donors and volunteers.
