Goodland building inspector flags water damage at Grant Historical Residences; industrial park work continues with short delay

Zach reported he inspected the Grant Historical Residences and saw standing water and ceiling stains in an upstairs community room. He said he "did send them official notice that it needed to be repaired" and that he would return to the commission to set a resolution to compel repairs if the owner did not act. Zach described the observed ceiling stain, an unsecured light fixture and standing water in buckets in the affected room.
Zach also said he contacted the owner of the Oyo hotel about weed complaints, mailed a notice and expects the owner to address the issue next week or receive further notice if not completed.
City Manager Kent provided project updates: base grading of the industrial park has begun, and the water‑main extension and south sewer main work are in progress. Kent said Old Castle had delivered sewer main bases for the north line but not yet for the south; the absence of the south manholes paused work for about a week, with delivery expected Friday and work to resume.
Staff asked commission confirmation to host a community barbecue at Stever Park on Aug. 16; commissioners voiced support. Kent said the city will follow up on lease renewal paperwork for the gun club and will contact the involved parties to complete the agreement.
Commissioners thanked public‑safety staff for their work and closed the meeting shortly after reports.
