City briefed on lead service-line inventory, industrial park progress and water‑rate software

City staff provided updates on several operational matters: the service-line inventory, industrial park construction, water-tower work and a proposed rate-analysis software purchase.
Shauna reported the service-line inventory has been completed and submitted early. She said the inventory identified roughly 19 Tier 1 (lead service lines), zero Tier 2 and about 160 in Tier 3; staff will send required follow-up letters and a pamphlet explaining precautions. "We do have about 19 in a tier 1, which is a lead service line," Shauna said, and staff noted the EPA has not yet finalized testing requirements. Staff estimated survey response at about 65% after multiple contact attempts.
On the industrial park, staff said concrete pours were nearing completion and sewer work was about 80% complete in sections; coordination with a private company (Nutrien) will be required for certain sewer connections. The water tower had welding, ladders and interior painting finished and staff expected refilling and return to operation once remaining coordination occurred. The packet also included a proposal for WaterEarth, a rate-analysis software package staff recommended purchasing under the city’s purchasing policy; staff offered to arrange a vendor presentation at a future meeting.
No formal commission action was taken on these informational items during the meeting; staff will follow up with letters, coordination and vendor scheduling as described.
