Commission backs Golden family housing project on Cattle Trail

The Goodland City Commission unanimously approved Resolution 16-47, a formal statement of support for a housing development on Cattle Trail needed by Kansas Housing as part of the developer’s application.
Jennifer Golden House, representing the development team, addressed the commission and described the project timeline: “We have started 2 homes. When those sell, we will go on to the third, fourth, and 5th,” she said, adding that her team plans to buy local materials and hire local contractors. “All of our supplies and products are being bought locally. All the work is local work,” Jennifer said.
Staff explained the resolution is part of the application package and that Kansas Housing had approved related letters earlier; a resolution is required because the project is an owner application and the mayor will not sign certain application documents. Commissioner Howard moved the resolution, Commissioner Redland seconded, and the body approved it on a roll call vote.
The action is procedural support required by the state housing agency; city staff will complete remaining application paperwork as requested by the developer.
