Fleet and sanitation purchases: The committee approved a cooperative agreement to procure rear refuse/recycling/yard-waste trucks from Kenworth Trucks Company (doing business as MHC Kenworth Atlanta) not to exceed $7,645,946.88 and approved three CNG-powered road tractors from Peterbilt (not to exceed $886,155) for landfill transport to reduce the number of route trucks on roads.
Mobile voting/outreach vehicle: The committee approved a specially built step van (to serve as a traveling mobile voting education center) awarded via the referenced cooperative contract, amount not to exceed $511,987.25. Staff said the vehicle will be used for outreach and education across the county.
Animal shelter payment: The committee approved change order No. 5 for Lifeline Animal Projects to cover animal shelter operations through Dec. 31, 2025, amount not to exceed $2,182,500.50. Commissioners requested that Lifeline or staff brief the committee on responses to a recent independent audit report and on priority areas for corrective action.
Police and administrative vehicles: The committee approved funding to purchase pursuit and special-service police vehicles (Hati Chevrolet Buick GMC Inc.) not to exceed $2,000,700 and a separate cooperative-contract purchase of administrative light-duty vehicles via Harding Chevrolet not to exceed $2,000,450 for scheduled replacements.
Several items were approved by voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the transcript. In several cases staff noted urgency to approve pending audits or encumbrances to avoid delivery delays.
