DeKalb operations panel approves a slate of contracts for fleet, facilities and IT

The DeKalb County Operations Committee on Nov. 25 approved a series of contract renewals and purchases covering fleet vehicles, facility maintenance, and information-technology systems and equipment.
Among the items approved were a $325,821 purchase of a lube truck for the Seminole Road Landfill (2025-1217), a $232,880.94 tractor and boom mower for PDK Airport (2025-1267), a two-year renewal for fuel-tank maintenance with SP Petroleum Transporters not to exceed $200,000 (2025-1363), and a $1,455,000 fourth renewal option for overhead-door repair and inspection (2025-1461). The committee also authorized purchases of three bucket trucks for traffic-signal work (2025-1462) and an articulated off-road dump truck for landfill operations (2025-1499).
A separate set of technology purchases for the county's new Real Time Crime Center were approved: a Palo Alto network security bundle to segment the center from the county network and a set of workstation furnishings for the center (2025-1310; 2025-1311). Staff said the segmented network will use its own internet circuit to avoid performance conflicts with the county's primary network.
Most items were presented by staff, received brief questions from commissioners about scope, warranty and replacement cycles, and were moved and seconded by committee members before passing by voice vote.

Two items were deferred for fuller briefings: the digital accessibility resolution referencing Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (deferred to the Dec. 16 Board of Commissioners meeting) and a change order for election-related mailing services (deferred to the next ops meeting so the elections director can present).
The committee requested additional detail where needed (for example, the number and classification of county fueling sites and warranty options for large vehicles). The meeting proceeded by typical committee practice: staff presentations, commissioner questions, motions, seconds and voice votes. The committee set follow-ups for several items that require further departmental input.
