Jordan, the host of the city's weekly flash briefing, announced that Lee's Summit will hold an in-person public meeting on the Ward Road Improvements Project on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting will provide details about planned work on Ward Road between Northwest O'Brien Road and NW Blue Parkway and will be open to the public.
City staff described the project as a reconstruction of Ward Road to a two-lane cross section — one lane in each direction — with bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides. Jordan said the work includes construction of a roundabout at the intersection of NW Ward Road and NW Blue Parkway. To accommodate that work, the city announced the intersection will close beginning Friday, Feb. 13, and will remain closed "until approximately June"; the briefing did not provide a specific reopening date.
The announcement also said a section of NW Blue Parkway between NW Executive Way and NW Ward Road will be closed while construction is underway. Residents seeking more information were directed to the project webpage at cityofls.net/ward.
The public meeting and closures are part of the project's outreach and construction schedule; Jordan presented the items as city announcements rather than formal council action. The story will be updated if city staff publish a firm reopening date or additional traffic detour information.
