Santaquin — The Santaquin Community Development and Renewal Agency (CDRA) met during the Oct. 7 council session and approved an amendment extending a development closing date to Dec. 3 for Summit Veterinary Clinic.
Alika (owner) and Britney/Bridal Fisher, founders of Summit Veterinary Clinic, explained that the project encountered delays because converting a trailer‑based mobile clinic into a permanent veterinary facility proved more complex than anticipated. "We're ready to get into something more — definitely more permanent," the owner said, and asked for the extra time to finish construction and funding steps.
Staff said the extension adds roughly 35 days to the original timeline (from an Oct. 29 closing to Dec. 3) and council approved the amendment by unanimous vote. A staff member noted the CDRA had previously worked closely with the owner and agreed to the extension as a safety net to allow the project to complete necessary construction and financing steps.
The business had been recognized earlier in the meeting as the Chamber's business of the month and staff encouraged the Fishers to coordinate with city staff on final signatures before leaving the meeting.
Next step: the owner will continue to work with city staff on outstanding items and finalize signatures required to complete the transaction.
