Independence health board reports three recent resignations amid questions about department oversight

Presiding Member (name not specified) opened the February 5 meeting and reported three recent resignations from the health department board, leaving openings for a physician, a lay member and a veterinarian.

Board Member Jason moved to approve two sets of minutes and the board approved them by voice vote before discussion turned to recruitment. The presiding member said the board would resend application links and asked members to suggest candidates.

The same member alleged that "some in city management" had intended to "gut out the health department" by reassigning health professionals to report to non-health professionals before a consultant evaluation could be completed; the member said they objected and would follow up.
