DEMHS warns towns to update LEOPs and finish grant deliverables ahead of month‑end deadlines

Nicole Villarney, reporting for the state's emergency‑management office, said that RiverCOG members that participated in certain awards should finalize deliverables promptly because the 2023 Emergency Management Performance Grant award closeouts require submission by Sept. 30. She said the Homeland Security Grant Program awards are also pending and that applicants remain in a holding pattern until award notices are issued.
Villarney reminded towns that an up‑to‑date Local Emergency Operations Plan (LEOP) is a statutorily required deliverable to DEMHS on a biennial schedule; she said many towns are overdue and that DEMHS has released an updated LEOP template intended to make compliance easier. She offered regional assistance and asked municipal emergency managers to follow up with the DEMHS regional office for help updating plans.
On school‑security grant closeouts, Villarney noted that final documentation for the 2021 program must be submitted by the end of the month. She closed by announcing a new Region 2 REPT chair and a steering committee meeting date, and invited questions from members.
