Ames school board approves consent agenda and policy updates, sets next regular meeting for Feb. 23

The Ames Community School District board moved from the public forum into its consent agenda and approved the consent items by unanimous vote.

At the close of the public forum the Board Chair (Speaker 2) moved the meeting to the consent agenda. A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved by Shields Cook and seconded by Ward; the chair called the vote and the motion passed 7-0.

Under old business, the board considered policies previously discussed. A motion to "approve the policies as presented" was moved by Shields Cook; a second was recorded in the transcript although the individual providing the second was not named in the provided segments. The board approved the policies; the motion passed 7-0.

Board members noted the student representative was absent and congratulated students on recent one-act plays. The board announced that its next regular meeting would be held Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m., ended the Zoom broadcast, and moved into a work session.
