Milton board approves $1.28M in vouchers, $31,000 in donations and a middle-school trip; moves to executive session on superintendent contract

At its Jan. 13 meeting, the Milton School District Board of Education approved routine business items, accepted community donations and moved into executive session to discuss superintendent goals and contract matters.

The board approved general checking account vouchers in the amount shown on screen: $1,284,889.19. A trustee noted several charges related to theatrical staging and rigging for student safety; administration confirmed those items had been reviewed. The board approved the minutes from its Dec. 9, 2024 meeting and staff reports as presented.

Trustees accepted gifts and donations totaling $31,000 and approved an extended middle-school portion of an already-approved high-school trip: roughly 16 middle-school jazz-band students will join the high-school group for an overnight music workshop and performance. "Good luck," a trustee said as the motion passed by voice vote.

On election administration, trustees informally set the order of names on the April ballot for two incumbents, listing John Doumer first and the other candidate second. Board members also reviewed upcoming meeting dates, committee schedules and a state convention session that board president Joe will present.

Before adjourning to executive session, the board president moved and the board voted unanimously to enter executive session under Wisconsin statutes (19.85(1)(c) and 19.82(1)) to discuss superintendent performance goals and a contract extension. The president said the board might or might not return to open session.

No final action on the superintendent contract was taken in open session on Jan. 13.
