COG endorses brownfield assessment grant submissions for local sites

Rista presented the municipal brownfield grant opportunity and asked the board to support COG-led assessment applications. She explained assessment grants are simpler to administer than remediation grants and that the maximum award is $200,000 per site, with a $500,000 cap for multisite COG applications.
Paul Harrington moved to endorse the assessment grant submissions and Dave Barker seconded the motion. The chair called for a voice vote and, hearing no opposition, recorded the motion as approved. Rista said the COG anticipates submitting up to two assessment sites initially and will work with towns to refine site descriptions and administrative-fee allowances.
The board also heard an update on Promise/Main Street assessments and other EDC workstreams; staff said 16 Main Street assessments have been completed and that follow-up resources will be shared.
