At first reading, city staff presented an ordinance authorizing a development agreement with Sycamore Investment Group LLC to extend water service for a proposed Home2 Suites hotel on Oak Grove Road and Tribute Parkway. The project would install a 12-inch water line from an existing hydrant near Ginger Lane to the hotel access road and then dedicate the installed infrastructure to the city. Staff estimated the waterline work at $158,668 with a developer reimbursement not to exceed $104,720.88; the developer is responsible for the remaining balance and any cost overruns. The agreement would be null and void if necessary approvals for construction are not completed by May 31, 2026.
A representative for the developer, Asha Patel of Suwanee, Georgia, introduced herself and offered to answer council's questions. Council moved, seconded and approved the ordinance on first reading by voice vote. As a first reading and public hearing, council heard from the developer and did not amend the reimbursement terms at this meeting.
Staff will return for subsequent readings and for final consideration if required by ordinance schedule; construction is contingent on required approvals and adherence to the May 31, 2026 completion condition in the agreement.
