Students and staff recognized; district honored for energy savings

Students from Sunshine and Twain elementaries were introduced to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and several students were noted for attendance and classroom awards. Cowden Elementary students who won the Amazing Shake competition were recognized; staff described the contest’s emphasis on manners, discipline and interview skills. District leaders also accepted a Best in Class award tied to energy conservation efforts conducted in partnership with Synergistic; Jesse Coulter (Synergistic) and Facilities Director Karsten Cargill joined district leaders for a brief presentation that included a $4,000 check for the district foundation to support scholarships.
Finally, the board recognized a fourth cohort of SPS Ambassadors — a mix of parents, community members and staff who toured district programs and the Ag Academy and will continue to support district outreach.
