The Board received a quarterly update on 2023 bond projects and approved a package of change orders related mainly to Pipkin Middle School and a small Reed Middle School mascot project.
Executive Director of Operations Shannon Dilday detailed that Pipkin construction is progressing and the district anticipates late-spring/early-summer completion and a move-in in time for the next school year. Dilday also presented the Pershing Middle School site plan and floor plans for a new roughly 142,000-square-foot building. The new Pershing design separates car and bus traffic, adds approximately 25 core classrooms, athletics space, a cafeteria and a library, and includes a tornado-safe area suited for band and choir classrooms.
Dilday said Bissett Elementary will receive a renovation and a four-classroom addition plus a gym/safe room; Crossland Construction is the construction manager for the middle-school projects. Financially, the district reported a strong bond balance pending final pricing for Bissett, Bingham and Pershing bid packets (pricing awaited at the time of the meeting).
Board members asked clarifying questions about timelines, circulation and staging; a follow-up tour of active sites was requested. The board approved the described bond change orders by unanimous vote.
