Young artists from River Ridge Academy toured downtown Bluffton galleries to study local art, sketch influences and participate in a guided scavenger-hunt exercise, a county broadcast said.
An unidentified student described art as "what you want to draw" and said the exercise helps students find different forms of expression beyond two-dimensional work. A guide explained the scavenger hunt is intended to slow students down, prompt attention to titles and materials, and broaden their sense of what counts as art to include sculpture, jewelry and photography. The guide also noted students painted rocks that will be placed by the dock as a community display.
Separately, the broadcast said 'Arts of We People,' a Gullah Geechee art exhibition inside Redfish’s Jay Costello Gallery on Hilton Head Island, is in its final week. Featured artists include Amiri Farris and multidisciplinary artist Wren Dillard; event details are posted on gullahcelebration.org.
