Board hears plan to accelerate middle school shingled-roof replacement to metal; $2.1 million estimate and October start targeted

District facilities staff presented a proposal Aug. 19 to replace the failing shingled sections of Radnor Middle School’s roof with standing-seam metal panels and associated repairs.
Mister Morris said the shingled roof sections above the auditorium, main gym, auxiliary gym and mechanical spaces have been failing, causing leaks throughout spring and winter, and recommended accelerating the project this fall because it can be accomplished while students are in the building. "It's time to move it up," Morris said, adding that the district can perform this work without impacting classroom instruction.
