The Radnor Township School District facilities committee on Dec. 9 recommended that administration seek board approval to contract Triangle Communications to upgrade door‑access systems at Radnor and Wayne elementary schools.
Administrator said the work would be funded through a Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) grant and comes from a state safety‑and‑security funding bucket assigned to the district. The district reported approximately $150,000 in related grant funds, of which a portion has already been used for other security items; remaining funds are sufficient to cover the two elementary upgrades with no net cost to the district.
Administrators said the district followed the grant requirement to solicit three quotes and that Triangle Communications — which recently completed the middle‑school work — offered the best value and a price below available grant funds. The work must be completed and submitted for reimbursement by June 30 under the grant timetable.
A board member asked what PCCD stands for; an administrator replied, “It’s the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.”
The committee endorsed administration's recommendation to proceed and to present the contract approvals to the full board for formal action.
