Farmington Historic District Commission elects officers; corrects minutes and adjourns

Farmington — The Farmington Historic District Commission elected new officers and completed routine business at a Dec. 16 meeting that also included the approval of a temporary certificate for work at 44 Colton Street.
Commission members nominated and approved Jay Bambara as chair. Members then nominated Jim Calciano as vice chair and stated he had agreed to serve despite his absence from the meeting. Michelle Phalen was nominated and approved as secretary.
Members discussed the timing of elections and voting eligibility under the commission’s bylaws. The chair and staff clarified that the bylaws call for elections in December and that alternate commissioners may vote only when a regular member is absent; officers themselves must be regular members. The commission proceeded with a voice vote on the nominations; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The commission reviewed the Nov. 18 minutes and agreed to correct a line that had listed Brian Connolly as attending online; the corrected minutes indicate he attended in person. The minutes were then approved as amended by motion and voice vote.
