S1 told the Green Efforts Committee that he expects this to be his last meeting as chair and that S3 (Patty) will assume the role starting in February.
"My belief is that this is my last Green Efforts Committee meeting," S1 said, adding that he asked Patty to 'tag along' because he expects her to be the incoming chair. S3 introduced herself and said she is an environmental lawyer by profession and has moved into renewable energy project development; she said she previously served on the committee from 2018 to 2024 and looks forward to serving as chair.
Separately, S6 raised a question about the Farmington Garden Club grant posted on the club's website and whether the committee should apply for the advertised $1,000 award. Committee members discussed possible overlap with community members who might also apply and the unknown number of grants the club will award this year. S4 said they would check the Garden Club website for a contact and follow up on the application process.
Why it matters: a leadership change may affect committee priorities and project oversight for the spring; a small external grant could help fund composting infrastructure or outreach if the committee chooses to pursue it. Next steps: S4 will seek contact information for the Farmington Garden Club and advise the group on whether to apply or defer to individual applicants.
