The Town of Farmington Green Efforts Committee set its annual townwide cleanup for Saturday, April 25, with volunteers to begin setup around 7:00 a.m. and activities running roughly 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., committee members said.
S4, a committee member, confirmed the date and began outlining logistics for the event, including carryover prizes from prior years, checking supplies and pricing pop-up canopies that can be weighted rather than staked to suit driveway locations. "We have a date," S4 said, and later specified arrangements for multiple sites and supply needs.
Why it matters: the cleanup is the committee’s largest volunteer event of the spring and serves both town sanitation and community engagement purposes. S4 said the committee will place a notice in the winter newsletter and follow with a fuller feature in the spring newsletter; S4 also said they will coordinate social-media posts with Explore Farmington and send materials to Rose Ponti, the economic development coordinator, for the business newsletter.
Committee members agreed to pursue a public-event permit and to confirm setup and event hours; S1 noted volunteers typically begin setup earlier than the official start time. The group also discussed distributing posters and using a shared tracker to coordinate outreach and volunteer assignments.
Next steps: S4 said they will confirm tent pricing, check existing supplies, assemble prizes and coordinate the spring newsletter and posters. Because the committee lacked a quorum at the meeting, approval of minutes and any formal votes were deferred to the next convening.
