The Town of Farmington Zoning Board of Appeals conducted its routine administrative business at the start and end of its Jan. 20 meeting, electing new officers and confirming several procedural items.
During the administrative session commissioners nominated Carrie Callahan and John Schoenhorn for chair. After votes were cast, John Schoenhorn was elected chair. Commissioners then nominated Chris Cloud and Steve Walsh for secretary; Chris Cloud was elected secretary. The clerk/staff tallied and announced the results following the process described in the board’s bylaws that allows both alternate and regular members to vote on officer elections.
Later in the meeting the board reviewed its bylaws (the board reviews bylaws quarterly: January, April, July and October) and invited suggestions for amendments to be raised at the April meeting if any member wished to propose changes. The board also approved the minutes from the November meeting by voice vote.
Staff announced a town-sponsored Freedom of Information Act workshop for Thursday at 6 p.m. in the council chambers; the session will be available on Zoom and a recording will be posted to the town’s YouTube page. Staff said it will distribute meeting links and the recording to commissioners who cannot attend in person.
