Planning commission elects new chair, vice chair and secretary

The Clawson Planning Commission elected its officers at a regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 25, 2025, following nominations and roll-call voting.

At the start of the evening’s public comment period, resident Linda Hale said she and others supported continuity in leadership, telling commissioners, “We like mister Kisera and miss Redmond, and we would hope that they would stay in their same positions.” The commission proceeded to nominations and votes for chair, vice chair and secretary.

Nominations for chair were taken and roll-call votes occurred for multiple nominees. The transcript records that “Mister Becerra has been elected as the chair,” and the new chair offered thanks, saying, “Thank you everyone for your support.” The commission then conducted votes for vice chair and secretary; the record states that Miss Redmond was elected vice chair and Mister Hara (recorded in the transcript) was elected secretary.

Commissioners used the procedure announced by staff: nominations stated for the record three times, then roll-call votes in nomination order. The meeting contained brief clarification about tallying during the chair votes as members confirmed yes/no responses on the record.

The officer elections were conducted as roll-call votes; the transcript records individual yes/no responses during each roll call. The meeting moved on after the elections to a short training presentation and staff reports.

The meeting adjourned after other business was completed.
