Summary
The DGR committee approved a residential driveway special permit for 17 Myrtle Ave, tabled a home-occupation application (60 Westfield Rd) for failure to publish required notice, and tabled the sale of 106 Pine St pending attorney clarification on a broker fee.
The DGR committee on Feb. 23 approved a special-permit recommendation by the city engineer to allow a driveway and parking pad at 17 Myrtle Ave for applicant Cindy Eli. "Matthew seemed to think that it met all of the criteria," Eli said, describing an 11-foot driveway footprint that preserves more than 50% green space.
Separately, the committee tabled a permanent home-occupation application for Mustafa Ibic at 60 Westfield Road because the required newspaper notice had not been published. City Solicitor Bissonnette advised that while courtesy continuation is permissible, the petitioner bears the burden to comply; the committee gave the applicant additional time and directed staff to consult the solicitor on legal handling.
An order to sell 106 Pine Street to Alan Snyder was also tabled after councilors questioned why the city would allocate $1,000 from proceeds to pay a broker fee. Solicitor Bissonnette said reallocating proceeds may be appropriate in a public-purpose sale but offered to provide a written explanation before the council vote.
Procedural motions to pick up items, accept minutes and adopt roll-call voting for the meeting were also handled at the start of the session.
