Rexburg council approves budget adjustment for grader, advances Ordinance 1320 and approves consent calendar

At its Sept. 18 meeting, the Rexburg City Council approved several routine and operational actions, including a budget adjustment to purchase a new motor grader and advancing a city development‑code amendment to its third reading.

Public Works Director Keith Davidson recommended the city purchase a new grader rather than a used replacement after comparing options. Davidson said a used grader identified in the market was about $321,000 (roughly five years old with about 3,200 hours) while the new machine was priced around $466,715 and carries a 4,000‑hour warranty and an 84‑month warranty period. Council President Walker moved to approve the budget adjustment to purchase the new grader; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

The council also took up Ordinance 1320, described by the mayor as "an amendment to the Rexburg development code" related to fences, billboards and other changes. Council member Johnson moved to consider the ordinance on third reading, and Council member Eric Erickson seconded; the motion passed on a voice vote and the council said it would consider the third reading.

Finally, the council approved the consent calendar, which included minutes from the Sept. 4 council meeting, the 2024–2025 beer and wine licenses for the city and payment of the city of Rexburg bills. The consent calendar was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.

No council member requested roll‑call tallies for the votes that evening, and no amendments or funding contingencies were recorded for the grader purchase at the time of the vote.
