Rexburg City recognizes officers for Idaho POST certifications; chief cites FBI National Academy

The Rexburg City Council on July 30 recognized several Rexburg Police Department officers for meeting Idaho POST certification milestones and heard Chief Rhodes describe his recent completion of the FBI National Academy.
Mayor opened the meeting and introduced a presentation from the police department to acknowledge certificates earned under Idaho POST standards. Chief Rhodes outlined the POST tiers and named officers who met the requirements, asking Officer Noah Lewis and Officer Sam Jaekel to come forward and later recognizing Officer Lords, Officer Allen and Sergeant Jenkins.
"The intermediate certificate is based on years of service, training hours and college credits," Chief Rhodes said, noting intermediate thresholds of roughly 600 to 1,200 training hours and that the advanced and master levels require substantially more. He said Sergeant Jenkins met the master certificate requirements, which the chief said include 1,500 post-certified training hours and a minimum of 15 years of service.
Chief Rhodes also described attending the FBI National Academy, calling it "a life changing experience" and saying the 10-week program emphasized leadership and cross-jurisdictional learning. Mayor and council members thanked the officers for their service and leadership in the department.
There was no formal action required on the recognitions. The council moved on after thanking the department for its work and noting the community's support for local law enforcement.
