Parks staff presented an ADA-inclusive playground design for Smith Park totaling about $64,000. The project includes a grant of $25,000 from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and pre-saved park construction funds for the remainder; council approved the adjustment and directed staff to proceed with procurement.
Separately, staff reported additional change orders for Tabernacle tower repairs (parapet capstone work and pinning cracks and arch stones) totaling just over $50,000. Staff said the contractor was already mobilized on-site, and that awarding the change order now would produce savings versus remobilization later. Council debated priorities for historic building expenditure but voted to approve the change order to prevent further deterioration and higher future costs.
Other items on the consent calendar passed, including record-destruction resolution for duplicate hard-copy accounts-payable and contract records (digital backups retained), the conditional approval of a fireworks stand pending inspection, and transfer of an off-premise wine license for a gas-station location.
