Representative Bridal said stakeholders who helped shape the proposal include representatives from Governor Ivey’s office, Attorney General Steve Marshall, the Alabama Sheriff’s Association president Sheriff Billy Murray, the Alabama State FOP, and the community college system. Committee members asked about the current process for certification and welcomed the idea of creating a pathway so agencies can recruit graduates at commencement.
Representative Fiddler moved for a favorable report and Representative Barnes seconded; the committee adopted the motion by voice vote and forwarded the bill.
