Rock Hill board approves multiple administrative hires and organizational changes

After a closed executive session on personnel matters, the Rock Hill School Board returned to open session on Feb. 24 and approved an updated organizational pattern and several leadership hires recommended by the superintendent.

A trustee moved to approve the superintendent’s organizational pattern and positions. The motion carried with a recorded outcome of "Motion carries 6 1 with Hutchinson against." Board members then moved through a series of superintendent recommendations, approving principals for Cherry Park Elementary, Rock Hill High School and Independence Elementary, an assistant superintendent (human resources), and the principal for Dutch McCray Middle School. Most motions were approved unanimously or by clear majority.

The board followed procedures of moving and seconding each recommendation on the record; the minutes record the motion outcomes. The superintendent and board chair said personnel items were discussed in executive session before formal action in public.

Next steps: Personnel appointments will be reflected in the district’s human resources records and posted in the official meeting minutes.
