Encinitas revamps urban-forest web pages and app icon; adds 'Plant a Tree' and 'Remove a Tree' buttons

Rob, a city staff member working on urban forestry outreach, presented a draft redesign of the Urban Forest Management Program website and reported IT adjusted the myEncinitas app icon to make tree-reporting links more visually accessible.
Rob said the draft replaces long paragraph text with clear sections, bullet lists and direct action buttons. "As opposed to the paragraph form that it was before with links kind of embedded within the paragraph, we're just outlining the different facets of the urban forestry program... Plant a tree button, remove a tree button," Rob explained.
The draft site includes links to the city tree ordinance, the administrative manual (which Rob said is currently under review), an interactive tree map, links to city tree permits and guidance for homeowners on responsibilities. Committee members praised the new design and said the two buttons in particular make it clear what residents can do online; one member asked for a heritage-tree link to be prominent next to the permit forms.
Rob and IT will continue refining the draft and add suggested links (for example, to the mature tree preservation ordinance and the heritage-tree list). The current live site remains available while the draft is refined.
No formal vote was taken; the item was informational and staff will proceed with edits based on committee feedback.
