The Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees on July 15 swore in Henry Ramos as a police officer after the chief of police introduced him and trustees moved to appoint him. The board asked Ramos to raise his right hand and recited the oath to uphold the U.S. and New York state constitutions and the duties of a Dobbs Ferry police officer.
Chief Rick described Ramos’ background, saying Ramos began his law enforcement career with the New York City Police Department in 2020 and had completed required screenings, including an extensive background and medical review. The chief noted the hire followed an internal recommendation from Officer Victor Wilson.
Ramos accepted the badge and addressed the room, thanking his family and mentors: "First and foremost, to my family as a whole, I wouldn't be here without the support of all of you," he said, and singled out a mentor he identified as Tomas and a recommending colleague, Vic.
Trustee Galen moved to appoint Ramos and Trustee Rosenberg seconded; the motion passed and the chair invited family and colleagues forward for photographs. Trustees and staff welcomed Ramos and noted his first assignment was the same night.
