Dobbs Ferry police chief reports full staffing, technology plans and RMS problems

The chief also outlined emerging technology options the department is monitoring. He described StarChase, an adhesive GPS tracker that can enable officers to terminate high‑risk vehicle pursuits by allowing a marked device to be attached to a fleeing vehicle and tracked by partners, and said the department is watching developments around drones-as-first-responder programs used in other jurisdictions. He warned that implementation of new systems requires careful policy and interagency coordination.
Finally, the chief reported setbacks in a county shared‑service records‑management system (RMS) rollout that was delayed after problems in the initial implementation; he said the village is exploring alternative RMS vendors and has an officer assigned to help the county project.
