Mayor, colleagues honor longtime Muncie Board member Linda Gregory at final meeting

Mayor Dan Ridenour opened the board's unfinished-business segment on Feb. 25 by recognizing Linda Gregory on what he said was her final day of service on the Board of Public Works and Safety. Ridenour said Gregory "have served this city for, some 20 years" and noted the role is unpaid: "I don't know that people realize how much that position pays, but it's it's 0." He thanked her "for serving on this board of works" and invited colleagues to offer remarks.
Molly Flotter, who introduced herself as a retired community member, told the meeting she had known Gregory for many years and recounted Gregory's volunteer leadership with local nonprofit efforts, including work that grew from anti-poverty efforts and involvement with the Bewley Center. Flotter said Gregory had "good ideas and [was] ready to get her done," and credited her with sustained volunteerism that helped vulnerable residents.
Other board members and staff offered brief tributes. Craig Wright, the city controller, said, "I just wanna say thank you for all you taught me." Speakers described Gregory's long-term civic involvement and the ways she influenced community programs; remarks included references to both 20-year and near-30-year spans of service.
After the formal remarks, the board held a small celebration with cake to honor Gregory. The presiding official then adjourned the meeting.
