The City of Quincy Board of License Commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a slate of special-event permits and one-day liquor licenses for community fundraisers, sports matches and a new restaurant, and accepted minutes from its Feb. 10 meeting before adjourning.
The board unanimously approved a special-use permit for the Bill Dunn Jr. Memorial Road Race, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 27. Speaker 1 said applicant Bill Dunn joined by phone and asked that the board take a vote. The board also approved the Jimmy Kennedy Memorial Run for ALS (the “Squirrel Run”) for Saturday, June 6; organizer Lou Tozzi thanked the board and said Quincy Police and Mayor Koch were key supporters.
The board approved one-day liquor licenses for several fundraisers: Quincy Friends of Scouting’s trivia night on Saturday, March 7 (beer and wine only; 6:30–11 p.m.), and Woodward School’s Irish Fest on Sunday, March 8 (4–7 p.m.). Rae Theiberk told the board the scouting event uses a professional trivia master and silent auctions to raise funds that help eliminate financial barriers for scouts.
