Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch and the board honored Danielle Bach, director of nutrition services, for receiving the 2026 IFMA Silver Plate Award for elementary and secondary schools, praising her leadership in improving student meal access.
The Greeley Evans School District 6 board on Feb. 23 recognized Danielle Bach, the district’s director of nutrition services, as the 2026 IFMA Silver Plate Award winner in the elementary and secondary school category.
Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch called the honor the “Academy Award of the food service industry,” saying Bach and her team have put District 6 “on a national blueprint for how nutrition should support students and families.” Pilch emphasized the connection between nutrition and learning, saying children cannot learn if they are hungry.
Bach accepted the recognition and thanked the nutrition staff across the district and district leadership; she singled out the roughly 264 school nutrition professionals who prepare meals daily and noted the award reflects collective work. She also thanked colleagues who supported her application and praised assistant leadership and mentorship inside the department.
The board framed the award as recognition not just of one person but of district-wide commitment to student nutrition. There was no board action required; the recognition was part of the meeting’s presentations.
