Miranda Ochoa of the Greeley Dream Team told the District 6 board it is awarding $84,500 in scholarships to 50 seniors this year and has invested more than $700,000 in students over the past 20 years; many recipients are from District 6.
The Board of Education for Greeley Evans School District 6 on Feb. 23 welcomed the Greeley Dream Team to announce this year’s scholarship recipients.
Miranda Ochoa, executive director of the Greeley Dream Team, told the board the community-based nonprofit has partnered with the district for nearly four decades and “over the past 20 years, Dream Team has invested more than $700,000 in students,” and is awarding a total of $84,500 in scholarships to 50 seniors this year. Ochoa said about 40–46 of the recipients are from District 6 schools.
Superintendent Dr. Deirdre Pilch said the partnership supports the district’s high on-time graduation rate and praised the Dream Team’s role in helping students plan for life after high school. The board and Dream Team staff invited scholarship winners forward for individual recognition and paused for a group photograph.
The recipients were read aloud by Dream Team staff by school and will be honored again at a later board meeting. The presentation underscored emphasis on college and career pathways in District 6 and highlighted the long-term community investment supporting students’ postsecondary plans.
Next steps: scholarship recipients will be contacted by the Dream Team about award disbursement; the district will include the winners in upcoming student recognition events.
