Supervisor: annual account meeting April 9; assessor says single-family permits rising

Township supervisor Scrooge told trustees the annual account meeting is scheduled for April 9 and that no new initiatives were submitted by the March 1 deadline, so the April meeting will follow a regular agenda. "I just wanted to remind you the annual account meeting, which is the April 9," Scrooge said. He also noted that the fiscal year ends March 31 and staff are closing out outstanding agencies and building items.
Township assessor Scott reported the assessor's office tracks new construction and adds new single-family residential properties to the assessment rolls based on permits filed at city offices. "Residential permits are turned in at the city offices, and they share their information with us so that we can go out and gather the information to get the new properties on the assessment rolls," Scott said. He said single-family construction dipped during the COVID pandemic and is starting to grow back to levels seen in the early 2000s.
An unnamed trustee praised the supervisor's work as fiscally responsible and welcoming for students. The meeting then moved on after the reports.
