The Oxford Public Works and Transportation Committee conducted a brief dry run of a new electronic voting device before approving its consent agenda and minutes on Feb. 24, 2026.
During the meeting’s consent portion, a committee member said, "I'm willing to move that we accept the minutes as presented," and another member seconded the motion. After the brief device test and the formal motion, the committee voted and the motion carried 3-0, approving the minutes for Jan. 27 and Feb. 10.
Committee staff demonstrated the device’s controls — a green button for “yes,” a red button for “no,” and a third button for “abstain” — and completed a trial vote before the formal roll call. The committee chair called the test successful and proceeded to the remainder of the agenda.
The meeting then continued to two Public Works contract recommendations scheduled to be forwarded to city council for final authorization.
