Sequim Planning Commission recommends broad land‑division rewrite and housing code updates to council

The Sequim Planning Commission on Feb. 17 voted to recommend the Sequim City Council adopt a comprehensive rewrite of Title 17 (land divisions) and draft Chapter 18.21, a package staff and commissioners said is intended to align local code with recent Washington state housing law and simplify administration.

Senior Planner Travis Simmons, who led the staff presentation, described the Title 17 rewrite as a restructure aimed at improving clarity and administrative efficiency, aligning definitions with state RCWs and consolidating scattered infrastructure and lot‑standard rules. "One of the key focuses of this entire update is ease of administration, not only for ourselves, but for the development community and for the public to know what's going on and what can happen," Simmons said.
