Policy Review Committee posts multiple policy updates for public comment, including volunteer and weapons rules

The Policy Review Committee of the East Stroudsburg Area School District voted Feb. 23 to post a set of proposed policy revisions for public review and subsequent board action in March.

Committee leadership presented edits intended to align district policies with recent school‑code changes and practice. The package includes updates to Policy 204 (attendance), which adds language barring a habitually truant student from transferring to a cyber‑charter school during the school year unless a judge rules such a transfer is in the student’s best interest; Policy 218.1 (weapons), which clarifies principal search authority on reasonable suspicion and requires prompt reporting to the superintendent and local law enforcement; Policies 805.1 and 805.2 addressing relations with law enforcement and school security personnel; Policy 1414.0.1 on extracurricular participation by charter and private‑school students; Policy 702.1 on commercial sponsorship and advertising; Policy 709 (references and housekeeping); and Policy 916 on volunteers.
