Atascadero planning commission continues Chick-fil-A conditional use permit to March 3

Atascadero, Calif. — The Atascadero City Planning Commission voted Feb. 14 to continue consideration of a zoning change and conditional use permit application for a proposed Chick-fil-A to its next regular meeting on March 3, 2026.
"We did receive a request from the applicant to continue this item," Community Development staff said during the hearing, adding that the applicant was not available to attend and asked that the item be moved to the commission's next available hearing on March 3. The staff speaker also opened the item for public comment; no members of the public addressed the commission on the matter.
Chairperson Keane moved to continue the item and Vice Chair Anderson seconded. The clerk recorded a roll call vote: Keane, Vice Chair Anderson, Commissioners Farrell, Heath, O'Malley and Pinacchio voted yes; Commissioner Jones was absent. The motion to continue passed unanimously among those present (6 yes, 1 absent).
The continuance postpones any final action or additional deliberation on the Chick-fil-A proposal until the March 3 meeting. No new technical evidence, conditions or amended materials were introduced during the Feb. 14 hearing; staff said the applicant requested to be present in person for the discussion.
The planning commission will take up the item again on March 3, 2026. Members of the public who wish to speak on the item will have three minutes during the public hearing for that agenda item.
