Missouri State Parks briefs county on Katy Trail safety; sheriff presents MoDOT highway-safety contract

Missouri State Parks staff attended the Henry County Commission meeting to discuss operations and safety on the Katy Trail. Melissa Hall told the commission some of the trail’s bridges are original structures and are not safe for vehicular traffic and recommended signage and county awareness about permitted uses. Park staff reiterated trail rules including a 20 mph speed limit and that Class 1 and Class 3 e-bikes with pedals are allowed on the trail.
Later in the meeting, sheriff’s office personnel provided the monthly review and asked the commission to authorize a contract with the Missouri Department of Transportation’s highway-safety program. Captain Rob Hills (and accompanying deputies) presented an authorization form for the MoDOT contract that commissioners reviewed during the session. No additional detail on contract dollar amounts was specified in the presentation.
