Commission approves replat of 10301 Desert Oak Court into two lots

The Socorro City Planning and Zoning Commission voted Feb. 3 to approve a replat (BABA Unit 1 Replat B) to split Lot 2, Block 2 of BABA Unit 1 into two separate lots at 10301 Desert Oak Court.
City staff summarized the request, saying the subject property is approximately 2.625 acres, currently partially under construction, and that the replat would create Lot 1 (under construction) and Lot 2 (the new lot). Staff recommended approval with the condition that engineer review comments be addressed before the plat is recorded.
George Hallwood of SLA Engineering, appearing in person for the applicant, told commissioners the owner seeks to divide excess land to create an additional parcel; he indicated the proposed lots comply with parking, driveway and fire‑department requirements.
Commissioners moved and seconded approval with staff recommendations; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: the applicant must address engineering comments and record the replat; recording is a prerequisite to any subsequent permits or development on the new lot.
