The City of Socorro Planning and Zoning Commission voted on Feb. 17 to approve a replat for Trujillo Subdivision Unit 2, Replat B, a 2.36-acre parcel at 10340 Socorro Road to allow duplexes. Staff described the property as zoned R2 (medium-density residential), surrounding uses that include agricultural, single-family and higher-density residential parcels, and recommended approval.
Staff said the applicant proposes 11 duplex lots (22 units) with on-site ponding in lieu of a separate pond tract and will dedicate additional right-of-way (staff noted an 18-foot dedication plus alignments to Cupec Road). The property owner was identified as Alejandro Corteo, with Dorado Engineering Group present to answer technical questions.
Following staff's presentation and questions from commissioners about right-of-way and on-site ponding, a motion to approve the replat was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor and the motion carried. Staff will record the replat and update property and GIS records as part of standard post-approval procedures.
What happens next: The planning department will file the approved replat and coordinate final plat recording and any follow-up inspections and utility connections to reflect the change in lot configuration.
