Keizer — The Keizer City Council on Feb. 17 approved a request to waive $1,581.25 in event center fees for the McNary Athletic Booster Club’s annual auction on April 25, 2026.
Assistant City Manager Tim Wood explained the request: the boosters typically use the city’s event center and previously used an annual discounted fee of $600; this year they requested an additional three hours, stage and audiovisual equipment, for total waived fees of $1,581.25.
James Hutchins and Kate Ham, volunteer board members for the McNary Athletic Booster Club, told council the boosters are a volunteer organization that funds student athlete fees, equipment and projects — noting that in the past three years they have covered fees for about 300 students. Hutchins said proceeds support uniforms and travel needs and described a planned hitting barn project that is at the architectural stage.
Councilor moved and seconded the waiver; the motion passed unanimously. The council placed the event date (April 25) on the calendar.
Next steps: the booster club will use the event center in April; staff will process the fee waiver in city accounting.
