Planning staff presented a proposed monthly subdivision-activity report and a potential web-based GIS dashboard to increase transparency about plats and preliminary plans handled by the technical review committee (TRC).
Staff said changes adopted in 2023 moved final plat approvals to the TRC and removed routine plan approvals from the planning board’s responsibilities, which prompted a board request for clearer reporting. The packet includes a spreadsheet with map references, plan types, parcel numbers, lot counts and total acreage. Staff said the data comes from the county’s new permitting system and can be produced monthly with minimal staff time. The proposed longer-term option is a public online map where users could click a property to pull up the associated plan.
The board voted in favor of the monthly reporting format and encouraged staff to continue developing the online dashboard in coordination with GIS and MIS.
