Jessica Norwick, representing Norwalk Hospital, said the updates "are intended to address current wayfinding challenges experienced by patients, visitors, and emergency responders." She told the commission the hospital proposes three net-new signs, including an illuminated set of channel letters on the building and a reflective emergency totem at the top of the hill; all other signs would be updated to the new brand but remain within existing size and illumination allowances.
Commissioners praised the package’s improved contrast and readability. A motion to approve included standard conditions and a staff-suggested "please consider" condition asking the hospital to work with staff regarding wayfinding from Route 95; commissioners agreed the language should be advisory rather than a formal requirement. The motion carried unanimously.
