The South Bend Common Council on Feb. 23 approved Resolution 26-07 to appoint Marla Goudette to the Community Police Review Board to complete a vacant two-year term. The Community Relations Committee brought the nomination forward with a favorable recommendation and council members voiced support before the recorded unanimous approval.
Also at the meeting the council heard first reading of an ordinance to vacate the east–west alley south of Monroe between 516 and 520 S. Michigan. The council moved to send the ordinance to the Public Works and Property Vacations Committee for a public hearing and third reading scheduled for March 9, 2026; the motion passed by voice vote.
Clerk Toronto handled readings and roll-call votes. No public testimony was offered for either the appointment or the ordinance at this meeting.
The appointment to the civilian review body and the ordinance referral were presented as routine items with committee recommendations and will proceed through the normal administrative committee and hearing process.
